... why does the sheer number of racists/homophobes/whatever in UKIP simply not bother people?
The usual response is that "all parties have bad eggs that we don't hear about." But
a) UKIP are significantly worse offenders
b) UKIP do not seem to care about their unsavoury members. Every time there's a platitude about how the problem will be solved, or how the party is taking quick and effective action - but then it transpires that the person has been behaving in such a way for a very long time, and earned no response.
Why do the same empty excuses always prove so effective? Does this really not bother people? Is nobody concerned that they may have just elected one of UKIP's legion of bad eggs to public office?

I think you are still missing the point. I'm reminded of all these people who, on expressing their views and getting criticised, throw out the "I'm entitled to my opinion" defence. Well yes, they are, and no-one ever disputed that. But then I am equally entitled to mine, an opinion which sees yours as backward or bigoted or whatever, and there is no reason why I...

SP, firstly, I’d thank you not to accuse me of making things up. Be assured I don’t do that - ever. Secondly, my post wasn’t intended as a personal attack, simply an observation. I’m on your side, but sorry, SP, your reluctance to criticise black people is evident. This is not the first time I’ve said that your posts reflect divided loyalties, and actually I find that sad.

And you’re doing it again. If you want to combat homophobia, criticism must be levelled squarely at the perpetrator irrespective of colour or creed. Regardless of what those Muslims you meet tell you, many would see your head roll without a second thought.

He is black.
The Christian registrar who refused to carry out CP ceremonies (whom I criticised quite strongly on previous threads) was black.
So please try not to misrepresent me.

Yes, you're probably right. To be honest that's why I started this thread - I wanted to see if these aspects of UKIP genuinely didn't bother people, and I've now learned that they don't. I could probably have gleaned that from reading the legion of UKIP-related threads, but I didn't.
Personally, I hate the 3 main parties as much as anyone - and I can't bring myself to vote for any of them come the general election. I just find it confusing that people are venting that frustration by endorsing a party which does not care about putting bigoted and dangerous people into positions of authority.
Anyway, I think it's pretty clear that this thread has died on its feet. Not much more to see here, folks.

Without knowing which clip you're referring to, can I start by saying that I have almost no respect for Ms Abbott at all. I always thought she was a very dumb person, but also a major hypocrite (the whole private school farrago).
Not sure what she's said or done recently. I try to avoid her as much as possible.
