Rather than say anything about her time as PM I prefer to say something about her as a local MP... Every christmas she hosted a party for local old people and even my almost communist mother in law said she was lovely... and would not be bothered by other issues during the time she spent there. I also know people who worked at the houses of parliament who found her...

I can't do the thinking for you!!!
I've been watching the nws and they've showed david cameron's reading, he sounded like an 11 year old in school assembly
Don't want you to ... !!!!!
I can't watch it DJ, can't stand his smug face at the best of times !
Dot - He often sounds like that.
I was pleased that the country gave this great Lady a typical British send off.

How pleased I was to see that the 'Nasty Left' were not given a World stage for their stomach churning disrespect, instead we saw the great British public applauding respectably with some tossing floral tributes.

Inside we saw dignities forgetting their political differences and some their religious differences, this provided me with increased food for thought, that being that although we are lucky enough to live in a country of freedom of speech, those who have been loudest in their disrespects, have shown themselves up to be worst than those who shout racist chants, because the target for their abuse is dead and cannot fight back.

Thank goodness each and everyone of them have now shown themselves for what they are, and I doubt if they will ever be able to live that down, but even so I do hope they are not shown the same disrespect when they themselves are laid to rest.

And may I use the lefts usual excuse when £ms are spent on items more fitting with their own agenda, the money spent on this funeral is 'just a drop in the ocean'?
'' just a drop in the ocean ''. oh thats ok then :)
The surprising thing today for me was Peter Mandleson's comments on Radio 4, speaking so favourably of her, that Britain did need the economic restructuring, that the Unions "were out of control" (his words), and that her legacy was the political framework all parties work within today, the culmination for him defined as Thatcherism.

This from the champion and mouthpiece of Mr Blair................
I don't feel any shame because I have shown her disprespect, I 'm not going the change my opinion just because she's dead, I despised her in 1979, 1982, 1984 and 1985 and several years since, you can't make me feel bad about it with a few words written on a page on't t'internet lol
Politicians admired her DTC, probably wishing they had the courage of their convictions that she had.
OMG AOG you are priceless. We don't all like her and we are entitled not to!! Your comment 'because the target for their abuse is dead and cannot fght back' made me laugh out loud - nor could the ordinary working man back in the day fight back, becase her word was LAW and she was going to do what she wanted no matter who she hurt in the process. No way would I have watched this funeral, it would have made me sick !
Dear oh! dear Ed..........how long have you been Ed?.......and you didn't see this coming when you started the thread.

ABers Eulogising Baroness Thatcher...........yeah! right.

Well you certainly have got your 100+thread.

Another shameful and tasteless day on AB.
You are trying to produce a 'fox that you can shoot'

The disrespectful and 'nasty' responses have come from a very small minority on the fringe as might be expected in many situations

Far more people have shown their dislike of Thatcher or the hype of the funeral by protesting in a dignified manner or simply by staying away

The mainstream left have been surprisingly conciliatory and kind about Thatcher but then it could be argued they have to as subsequent Labour administrations continued her policies

What you have observed today aog is the realisation that your 'fox' of 'hordes of Nasty Left Demonstrators' was a figment of your own imagination stoked up by the misrepresentations of The Daily Whinge and their self-serving visions of left-inspired anarchy
Like the poll tax eh chaptazbru, she did not get everything she wanted made law.

^ Thank God !!!
For Brenden.
many of the current politicians have either said what they thought they should say to protect their career or said what they thought they should say to further their career.
don't forget the apology cameron had to give on the bahalf of the thatcher government that was in power when they suppressed and buried the truth about hillsborough, and that was only last october!
chaptazbru

We live in a democracy, in case you didn't know, they had three elections where they could have fought back, but didn't, in fact it had to take a stab in the back from her own party traitors to finally remove her.
