I`m quite sorry to hear that. Love him or hate him, he was one of life`s characters.

Didnt he get married quite recently?
Question Author
Yes. I think he knew his time was limited.
I admit I wasn't very keen on the man. I saw him last on the One Show and he looked incredibly frail, so I'm not surprised. Best wishes to his friends and family.
Do you have a link to the news, Reuters and the BBC have no mention of it on their sites.
Cant say I liked him but its always sad, especially for his family
Its on the BBC breaking news now
Well may he rest in peace.
Agree with Sir Alec and others....

It`s on sky and bbc breaking news. I always thought Michael Winner was a very rude and jumped up man but then I read a couple of his books and changed my mind a litte. I rarely laugh out loud at books but his were so funny - purely because he just says it like it is.
hate hearing anyone has died. heard it on lbc news just now x (2.00)
I liked him, did a lot of good work with the Police Memorial Trust.
// In an interview with The Times newspaper, Winner said liver specialists had told him in summer 2012 that he had between 18 months and two years to live. He said he had researched assisted suicide offered at the Dignitas clinic in Switzerland, but found the bureaucracy of the process off-putting. //
No one mention also the sad death of tennis star Gussie Moran.

sad, but i can't say i liked him much, certainly not as a film maker
I liked the guy.....he was different...he was a character....he lived life to the full the way he wanted to, irrespective of traditions.
He drove his Rolls Royce, he spent his Christmases in Sandy Lane Barbados, with a pretty girl in the top suite. An entrepreneur and someone who knew how to spend his money.

I never knew him personally, but would have liked to.
His philosophy, at least how it seemed in some of his films, was that if somebody stole your biro pen it was permissible to go after them with a sawn-off shotgun.
Question Author
Have you read his books sqad? I think you`d like them. The account of his birthday night out (in one of his books - can`t remember which) with Joan Collins and Chris Rea was hilarious.
237SJ....no I haven't but thanks for the tip.
SandyRoe, its called artistic licence.
He was an ok guy & as you say 237SJ one of lifes characters. RIP Michael.
