I knew today was going too well (what with the absence of a hangover etc) ...

... looked inside the lower half of the airing cupboard for the first time for a while (the top half gets used daily) and assumed the usual "groping around with torch and banging head" position to get at the Central Heating timer thingy (perhaps Mr Builder could explain why his pals always put them in such daft places?).

Anyway - found piles of nicely shredded insulation and bubble wrap - some little blighter has been making himself at home over the last few weeks.

Trip needed now to B&Q for a couple of traps - reluctant to use rodenticide because this is all upstairs and don't want the little bugger crawling off somewhere inaccessible to die.

Grrr - the joys of country living :+)

It might be a little field mouse that's come in for the winter.

Must have usued crampons and abseiled in Tilly - can't see how it has arrived at all.

I quite like mice - and spiders too - but not when they are shredding my hot water cylinder jacket.
Still a mouse in his house though, Tilly. I'm a poet and didn't know it lol.
I suppose I should count myself lucky that the mice that come into No 30 are bought in by Perry and are mostly dead... How did you manage to be hangover free after yesterday's beer fest....?!
you can get rodentcide that nails their kidneys, dave, forces them out to go and look for water and then they keel over outside - anyway mice don't smell (though you can get maggots and bottles).....it's rats that stink. Any decent local country supply shop should have the necessary execution - ours comes in sachets.
bait the traps with chocolate dave, seriously

Large pizza, copious amounts of coffee and a glass of fizzy vitamin C before bedtime ...
leave it alone, it's harmless...

When we first moved into this house we had mice in the cavity walls. You could here them scratching inside the wall.
I can lend you a cat.
I had a mouse nesting in my woolly hat in the cupboard under the stairs, once - the cats ate it eventually.
the mouse or your hat, boxtops? Or both?
So you need a new wooly hat then Boxy?
The Cat Ate The Hat... that'd make a good title for a kids' book
BM can lend you several.

If it parachuted in, be wary it might be an SAS mouse.

Ye gods BM - I'm not that desperate :+)

... anyway junior dog is scared enough of small harmless kittens, so he'd be packing and moving out if Asbo arrived ...
^ woolly!
Boxy, I could knit you a jaunty beany in scarlet :-)
catch em, flog em, cook em or sun dry (chinese delicacy).....mouse farming, hahaha
It's OK Dave, I wouldn't send you ASBO, not sure I dislike anyone that much.

He really is being a rare pain in the jacksy atm.
