The Email that was accidentally sent to the 'Bride To BE' read:

/// ‘Hi Carlo, I need your advice on this wedding, I know this probably doesn’t sound very nice, but I am trying to put this wedding off as I don’t think they are the type of people that we would want to have at Stoke Park.’ ///

Just the type of answers I expected some of you are so predictable.

For starters she isn't a 'Porn Star' she is a law graduate working as a Glamour Model, and is also a drug and alcohol counsellor and her partner works as an engineer for the Ministry of Defence.

It matters not if the Email was sent in error, the words are there plainly to see.

/// I am trying to put this wedding off as I don’t think they are the type of people that we would want to have at Stoke Park.’ ///

Had they had referred to two homosexuals, it would have not just been a 'Non-Story' as some have called it, but it would have been condemned viciously, especially by those who are now saying it is a non-story.
Yes, she would, if she didn't like the cut of their jib. All elite establishments pick and choose their clientelle, that's what keeps them elite.
But it is only about this couple, AOG.

Shall we all invent scenarios which *may* have occurred and become exercised by them?

If so, we could be here quite some time....
The entire point about this e-mailis that it was intended onoly for one other person to see.

The reasons around it are not the issue - despite your ongoing attempts to make it so AOG - the Mail as usual focuses on the salacious details of the bride's occupation, and the 'unsavoury' appearence of the groom, and delights in embarassment caused all round.

Is it news? No.

Is it a silly error blown up? Yes.

Is the couple's sexuality an issue? No.

Shall we, for AOG's satisfaction, imagine the scenario if the couple were -

gay / black / lesbian / Muslim / dwarves/ Downs Syndrome / Amish / French / German / Labour / BNP / atheist / Thetans / aliens ... or any combination of the preceeding.
AOG, if she had said - I don't think they are the type of people we want.........because they are black/gay/disabled that WOULD be in breach of the relevant laws.

And business can refuse any customer as long as the decision is not made because of race/disability/sexual leanings.
Jack's post arrived as I was typing - great minds ....

LoL trigger.
initially (yesterday) the story was about them being turned down because of him and his appearance. now someone has discovered she works on the telly, it has been rewritten as a slur against her - the worst kind of journalism imo, and typical of the dm. on another point, she gets her baps out on the telly for pervy blokes (and has a law degree) and whinges it is such a humiliation and an embarrassment to be turned away from the hotel. i think she needs to look at her own lifestyle a bit more first before talking about being humiliated - she does it most nights for wedges of money. bit hypocritical, really.
I do recognise her from off the telly ............I think she sold me an halogen oven.

I've thought long and hard about this, and in order to answer your initial question, I need to ask you this...

Firstly, you asked 'would they have dared to do this, had the coupe been gay?'

Do what precisely?

What are you actually asking?

Are you asking whether this woman would've tried to divert a gay couple from their establishment?

Let's start with that.
So much hot air and bad feeling flying around in this post when a simple Google search would have given AOG the answer he needs:

http://www.gay-friend...com/stokeparkclub.php

That is a real, working link by the way.

:)
ll_billym

I'm a bit confused by what the link is supposed to mean in terms of answering AOG's post.

Not having a dig...I'm just a bit lost.
Yeah, re-reading the original post it doesn't really but then it is a bit hard to see what would :)

However, I suppose the fact that they feature on such a site and presumably have had gay weddings there would make it easier to defend their cause if some gays got sent the 'not their type' email and they got accused of discriminating purely on gayness.
ll_billym

Oh I see what you mean now!!!

Well done...I didn't even clock the name of the venue.

So to summarise, it is extremely unlikely that is woman would've sent an email trying to put off a gay couple, because they specifically advertise as a civil partnership venue.

AOG - your hypothetical situation from 17:03 now looks really, really hypothetical.

Any comments?

(ll_billym - you may wish to consider changing your member name to H_Poirot).
aog, do you have a genuine obsession with the idea that minorities have more rights than the majority or do you just post posts like this one for amusement of all , without any such thought? No doubt if a gay couple were not the right type of people to the mind of whoever wrote the email, they too would not be accepted. I imagine that there are homosexual men who make, or supplement their income by posing as this woman does. They would prove equally objectionable to the writer.

trig - AOG doesn't normally hit the site until after lunch, and he is usually gone by tea-time - so hold on, he'll be here.
Aog, you really need to read your own links;
You said; "and her partner works as an Engineer for the MoD"

The link said;

///Mr. Carty who had previously claimed to be a MoD Engineer had worked for the MoD in the past, but han=d not done so for several years///

///Mr Carty apparently produces the bits Miss Baily stars in///
^^^^ but has not ^^^^^
