So the police are now going to investigate charges of murder 40 years after the event, following the findings of the 12 year long, £195million inquiry by Lord Saville.

This latest investigation could last another 6 years at a cost close on £8m.

What about the 53 men that the The Parachute Regiment lost, who is to investigate their murder? but then all these terrorist killers have been released and treated with respect by our politicians.

If there were any charges to be made for the killing of those on 'Bloody Sunday' then they should have taken place at the time. not 46 years after at a cost of £203m.

Are you serious MoonRocker? This issue has been pursued for 40 years and you think they done nothing wrong? Don't be a fool!!!
I thought they showed remarkable restraint frankly. A crowd impregnated with IRA gunmen and snipers opens fire on the army. What do you think they should do? Start a focus group? And what is the relevance of some being shot in the back? do you seriously think the army cares what part of the body the enemy is facing them with? I'll wager you have never been in this sort of situation were you fear for your life, if you did and you had a gun believe me you'd protect yourself.

ummmm

/// AOG - so British soldiers shoot innocent people, some of them in the back, and you expect it to be swept under the carpet? ///

That is not what I said and well you know it.

I was just comparing one against the other, and asking why?

/// .....yes AOG but what really annoys is that most of the "anti British" are themselves British. ///

Yes but do you know this for certain? Because I must admit I often wonder, when I read some posts.
Sounds like some on here are IRA sympathisers.

If the IRA want us to forget and start afreash then it has to work both ways. Without doubt the IRA murderred innocents and it of course happened the other was, its a war for gods sake.
The army opened fire first!
I am NOT an IRA sympathiser...!!! The British soldiers opened fire on innocent people. Excuse that all you want...
5 were shot in the back!
if they do go ahead with this then i agree with this article

http://www.belfasttel...uinness-16181878.html
but did not engage in "any activity that provided any of the soldiers with any justification for opening fire". A 14th victim of the soldiers died later.
there is no concrete evidence it would seem one way or the other.
how can you say there is not evidence the previous investigation found that those killed were innocent!!

I think some of you are very blinkered with hatred be it Irish, muslims or blacks!!
perhaps you should read the whole article.
from the same article
that mcguinness was carrying a gun, it is alleged,
i confess that i don't care for those that plant bombs on our streets, be it Muslim, IRA, or uncle tom cobbley and all.
but did not engage in "any activity that provided any of the soldiers with any justification for opening fire".

and I have read the whole article and lived it!!
as i have, on the streets of the capital, been lucky so far, who knows when the next feckin one goes off i won't be.
40 years down the line 'alleged' and 'probably' shouldn't really been in the article.
FGT, irrelevant, innocents die in wars. It's called collateral damage, not right but it happens. Personally I don't think there's any value in raking this over again and again. People, innocent or not, died on both sides. We now have a truce of sorts let's leave it there eh. We don't keep dragging up the deaths in countless mainland bombings do we? For christ sake millions of innocents died in 2 world wars but the world has moved on, what about the cartpet bombing on both sides, shall we try the Bomber crews now? Let it lie.
moonrocker, but they want to keep it going, that's the point of this investigation.
