Been thinking about AOG's question, and I don't believe it would be sexist if the restaurant had not offered a rose to a gay male couple, because men do not traditionally get flowers - ever (even leaving aside Valentines Day).
It would be a different matter if the restaurant were giving roses to women and a small bag of chocolate truffles to men and refused to give the chocs to two fellas.
But at the end of the day, it shouldn't even be the restaurant giving out flowers. It's a meaningless gesture unless it's from the person you love.

AOG - as far as the 'butch /femme' and 'camp / straight' stereotypes of gay couples, they are just that - stereotypes.
Part of the fear of homosexuality that still pervades our society is simple ignorance. It's the sort of ignorance where a homophobic man will assume that every gay man will find his body irresistable, and that all gay men are rabid seexual abusers of any man they see.
Parallel with that ignorance is the desire to pidgeon-hole gays into pseudo-htereosexual roles in their relationships, therefore each couple must have a 'man' and a 'woman' because this conforms to the standard comedy stereotype, and makes homophobic people feel a little less fearful of something which they don't understand.
The fact is, gay couples are made up with as many variables and combinations as straight couples - and amen to that.

AOG - I do not profess to be an expert - I simply offered my opinion based on my perceptions.

Your view of the gay community AOG appears to be somewhat sterotypical, that is sterotypical of about the 1960's.
In this day and age there is enough information available about every community for you to update your opinions.
However yet again I think, you think you are being clever. Couching opinions in a question so it appears you are being curious, rather than insulting. You have had enough conversations and layed about enough insults about gay people to realise what you saying is wrong.

why is is that no one these days can crack a joke or ask a simple question without being accused of something? its PC- ness gone mad!! I know loads of Gay people who crack jokes about Gays. As for stereotyping - pardon my self-confessed ignorance in these matters being a heterosexual female -but in male Gay sexual relationships surely one has to be Joe and one Joanne -if you get my drift.....or do they flip a coin?
