hey don't include me with that lot above!

Ok lets get back to the point,YES SHE DONE WRONG,AND YES SHE SHOULD BE BANNED FROM DRIVING,but what happens if she needs to take the kids out,or bring them back home at night,do you want them on public transport at nightime/ Id prefer the safety of my kids and wife over any car ANY DAY!
|
|
Yes DIngo - but you seem to be missing a point here.. Would you support your Wife's independence if it could one day lead to someone being hurt and run over by your Wife????
If she kills someone - she could end up in prison. WHat good will that be to the kids then eh???
He has offered taxi's too! and to drive them himself...
Or ..tell her to buy an old banger and only let her drive that!!!

Or ..tell her to buy an old banger and only let her drive that!!!
Would'nt that still make her a danger? or is she only a danger in pimped up cars/
|
|
why dont you buy a grown ups car glidr, now that you have children why not buy something decent.
|
|
I can understand our concern for your kids, and frustration that she doesnt seem to improve her driving.
However anger and frustration and banning inst a long term way forward, especially if with your health problems, you may, at some point in the future need to rely on her being mobile.
Would a constructive way forward be to send her on some pass-plus lessons with a driving instructor, and tell her she can drive again once she completes enough lessons to get to a safe standard?

4 pieces of alloys, one large piece of steel, I see your point, excluding your other circumstances, your wheelchair bound your wife is the driver in an emergency, think of what she is thinking!!! I think that she will be thinking that you think more of your car than her ( which I doubt) just put this down to one of these things Glidr, no-one was hurt, the wheels can be refurbished, if you are in a marriage the immaterial items are part of the family that includes your wife, You will get over it, by next week you will look back on this post and think!!

cheap thrills from bullying, enjoy being a control freak - u r pathetic and she must be thick staying with you! Send her off for more driving lessons if necessary but dont deny her the car.
What happens if the kids need a hospital & you're unable to assist? You are a typical MCP & deserve to live alone.

Just a thought, but surely if she'd left the handbrake off entirely the car would have rolled as she pulled up or as she got out. Could it be more likely that she put it on but not enough or that your handbrake cable might be on the way out?
My friend drives perfectly fine but she goes to pieces when her husband is with her because he's constantly giving her his 'expert' advice on how she should be driving.
Prehaps some retraining might be in order but taking the keys away and banning her sounds like your treating her like a kid.

|
You say you are concerned that your children may be killed while your wife is driving - if you are that bothered you would NOT let her take them in the car with you. I know I wouldn't if I thought someone was that unsafe in a car.
As she's been like it for 6 years maybe you should have got her some further driving experience.
Maybe a little understanding and support would go a long way instead of your "attitude" never mind hers.

Glidr. I understand your concern, mate. Why don't you treat her to a Pass Plus course of driving lessons. You may have to work on her before she will see the logic of this, but everyone can improve their driving and I am sure she will remember cases of parents reversing over their own children.
I think if you reason with her and emphasise the responsibility she has to the children she will agree to a course of advanced lessons.
Good luck.
PS. Sorry to hear about the wound, mate. I've managed to dodge a few -but they were .303 in my day.

Hi Glidr:
I've just read some of the replies, not at all surprising seeing some of the monikers! They're more used to bandying insults on Chatterbank - muppets!
I'm an ex squaddie myself, mate, lost one of my best buddies in N.I. (shot in the back), so you have my sympathies and understanding, too.
Right, sounds like you were well wound up when you posted this but looks like you had pretty good reason. If your missus is as bad as you say, perhaps she needs someone else to maybe go for a drive with her to see if they could identify any obvious problems.
Is there anyone capable enough that you both know who may be willing, as long as your missus would be too, who could give an honest assessment of her driving?
I can understand your obvious concern for the kids, however I'm sure she's also well aware and wouldn't intentionally do them harm.
I hope you can both resolve the situation and I wish you the best of luck.

you've spent 1000 on alloy wheels? ffs

Get her an automatic - Just Park/Drive/Reverse to think about....maybe the kids distracted her.
