torque & bhp ?

My question is what is the difference between torque and bhp and how does either effect a cars performance?

Torque is how much a motor can pull.

Horsepower is how fast it can do it.

hello, BHP (brake horse power) is basically the pulling power of the engine,ie the more BHP the more powerful the engine.The BHP is usually the reason for a fast car been fast on both acceleration and top speed. Torque is the engines mid range pulling power ie. 40-120mph rough estimates on a fast car. Both do effect the performance of a motor.
