'When things go wrong, as they sometimes will and life's a struggle - all uphill...' Can anyone tell me the poem please? Not the cheeky version I found on a birthday card ! :-)

That's the one...thanks very much!
well this is nice... very Arts and Crafts... good solid brickwork and lots of dados for the ladies... improving poetry hung on the walls... Elizabethan half-timbered lavvy out the back...

'Is there anybody there?', said the Traveller,
Knocking on the moonlit door....

oh poop, it's my door, why am I knocking?
mmmm,
looks like shaney's got the writer's block already
I want to go down to sea again
The lonely sea and sky
I left my vest and knickers there
I wonder if they're dry?

With apologies to John Masefield .

Have we got William Morris wallpaper...quill pens and sealing wax ? I must go and whip the microfibre round my davenport .
To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep....oh buer ...!
got ink from that bloomin quill all over me paper....have to write another one now......
there was a lady from ealing who had a peculiar feeling...(:O)
To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune

is an anagram of...

In one of the Bard's best-thought-of tragedies, our insistent hero, Hamlet, queries on two fronts about how life turns rotten

I bought myself a Wonderbra
For fourteen ninety nine,
It looked so good on the model girl's chest,
And I hoped it would on mine,
I took it from the packaging
And when I tried it on,
The Wonderbra restored to me
All I believed had gone......

( Pam Eyres....from The Wonderbra)
Hello everyone is this our new home. Hope so cos otherwise I'm lost!
Been to Tai Chi this morning and had the most lovely lunch at a local restaurant. I have Feta and Olive Salad cos I want to lose a bit of weight and then i went and spoilt it all and had, well let me explain, it was a chocolate pyramid filled with mousse and raspberry stuff with cream all over it covered in Dram Buie. Loverly!!!
Kit My thoughts are with you even though we don't share really personal things on here for obvious reasons I think we are all very caring about each other. I have a friend who I tell everything to. I would miss these threads because there are times when I am on my own and need someone to talk to and have a laugh with and that's when I come on here.
See you later :o)
is this the way to the annual moth ball

Sorry, it's the other hat: quills, anyone...?

Well that worked like a charm: Ask Vinny a question and the whole mob comes running, shouting and waving their knives in the air. My mistake - didn't realize we were all packing! jno there is indeed a device on the handle that might be described as a clip but I can't figure out how to do anything with it except feed the blade forward. But nevermind, I'll...erm... use some pliers. Wearing goggles of course!

Shaney & Shaney and Vinny, the three of you really grabbed me: Shaney and Shaney shuffling between benches and staring vacantly at nothing at all, not making it down to the water, and you Vinny with the whole story. I love your spelling, Vinny. Be it deliberately transcriptional or not, it's like hearing a voice, and it seems to me you've done well for yourself by not hardening your heart. I have a feeling that in the final analysis you've given your kids more than you yourself received, and if that's not a life well lived - what is. Sorry if that sounds a bit mushy, but I wanted to say it.

On a different note, I received an invitation from a former colleague who's taken up bellydancing (!!!) to attend her students' performance. People never cease to surprise me - just when you think you know somebody, turns out you didn't.
jno, when you were up in the air in that balloon, was there any particular dress code...?

I should do a reading before I take my leave or whatchamacallit.

I Have A Little Cough

I have a little cough, sir,
In my little chest sir,
Every time I cough, sir,
It leaves a little pain, sir,
Cough, cough, cough, cough,
There it is again, sir.

And this one:

I do not like thee, Doctor Fell,
The reason why I cannot tell;
But this I know, and know full well,
I do not like thee, Doctor Fell.

Taking my leave, nitie nite.
(They're not mine!)
(They're not mine, more's the pity!)
(They're not mine, more's the pity!)

(The rhymes, folks, the rhymes!)
Sorry - don't know what happened there - not my fault... Better leave now...
Oh I am a confused biddy - I rushed out of the closet and then rushed straight back in again and posted. Anyway I am here now, just brushing up on my Tennyson (Alfred Lord), my fav being Mort 'dartur - but don't start me off on that, it's rather long.
My contribution =

I like me, I think I'm grand
and when I'm alone,I hold my hand!

Now if that don't beat all.
