why is it you cannot return a special ordered part to a dealers for credit if you dont need to use it?

The fact that it has to be specially ordered suggests that they don't keep a stock as they don't use the part very often. They probably won't accept it back as they don't know when (or if) they will ever get rid of it to someone else.

thanks CheekyChops for your reply, you would think they would be able to send it back to where they ordered it from even if it meant paying a small fee for doing so.
