do you think the supermarkets have a duty of care in the way car parking is set out? what I mean by that is space given to each car, my Nephew has an expensive car & he straddles 2 lanes, many comments are said to him regards his parking until he explains why he doe this, the commenters usually agree with him, how many dents have you had in your car due to Supermarkets car parks & how much has it cost you.

I agree Mamyalynne. Very dangerous places. You certainly got to keep your wits about you. I always tell my 6 year old grandson to look always, and tell him they can be very dangerous places.
Damned S failed to operate, I must read before posting.
So who's got one of these 4x4s that I'm going to offend - the size of them has got ridiculous, women weaving round car parks in near lorries.

“Tramp Stamp” is a derogatory term referring to a tattoo which a women places on her lower back.

and they're not the Worlds Best Drivers
I'm like hc, I park right away from the store entrance.

I surprised your nephew doesn't park in the parents and children part of the car park, or even the disabled drivers section, both having wider bays.

Been a few nasty accidents in my local supermarket car park most it seems caused by cars reversing out of spaces.
Just to say TWR, the car spaces are very tight in a lot of supermarkets. I'm always squeezing out of the door, being extremely careful not to knock into car along side. My husband parks well, too...

Prudie, we have one, but don't use it on shopping trips unless the weather dictates that we should
Quite true Patsy, I carry a stick so those dents may not always be from other drivers ;-)
Do you give them a jolly good thrashing?? :-)
Only if sorely provoked.
Of course.....
Our local Sainsburys has an underground Carpark where the bays are so tight to the pillars I seriously won't park in half of them. But I wouldn't take up two spaces - I just either find one I can fit in or go home.
No dents and what a selfish attitude to take up two spaces.
Never had a dent in the car park.

I park far away from the doors though.
Worst example of this parking I've seen is a Smart car in the junction of four parking bays, effectively blocking all four bays.
I drive a 4x4 but I am not insulted at all by your comments.
I had a Mercedes scraped on door and wing, in a Waitrose carpark, but when I returned, a kind soul who had witnessed it and watched him drive away had left me a note with the culprit's reg. number and his own phone number so I was able to successfully persue the matter.

Incidentally, I wish all car parks would use the herringbone layout as used in the US. It makes parking easier and really costs no more space because the aills (can't spell it!) can be narrower
I agree with the herringbone layout, which is what I meant in my first post, Khandro. It makes much more sense.
white van in our Sainsbury's car park yesterday managed to park across four spaces. I'd like to hear that one explained as anything but stupid selfishness.
