I recently bought a 2013 Mercedes A180 and was offered a satnav which looks like a small box that plugs in in the glove box. It was going to cost in the region of £600. Does anyone know whether I can buy a cheaper version and if so, where from.

They're called Becker Map Pilots and there are some on sale on eBay for a lot less than £600.

Thank you.
Read the reviews - not good
£600?!

Just buy a Garmin or a Tom Tom.
I've got a Garmin. Very good, and a lot cheaper!
I believe maps are a lot cheaper.
They are indeed LJ, but you can't read a map whilst driving.
boaty work it beforehand. sorry that sounds rude but usually it works. how did people manage before these devices?
We have a Tom Tom. Didn't cost much, only pay for an update every few years or so.
Brilliant little gizmo, love it.
LJ I always do that, but the satnav is good for the last couple of miles, the local knowledge.
orkay. I give in. evidence to the contrary but if it works for all of you that's fine.
I always do a route plan t get to the area, then I put the satnav on.
Tom Tom comes out of the glove box a couple of times a year.
And earns his/her keep.
I always have a glance at an on line map first, don't bother with buying those big paper things that need folding.
Mapreading an essential skill for the armed forces oz.
I used to use a TomTom but now use my tablet - bigger screen, free updates and in my opinion better than the TomTom.
Doesn't the tablet block the windscreen a bit, HC?
Ho ho ho, Hopkirk. Not by an inch
