Dear all,

I would like to get a Satnav device for my car but don't know much about them.
My main query is how does it work - not technically, as Iknow all about the theory behind GPS positioning etc., I mean physically attaching to the car etc? I have an old Rover ('P' reg.) and wonder how to connect a satnav to it. Do I plug something into the cigarette lighter for power? Or otherwise? I don't have a CD player in the car (only a fitted radio), no mobile phone technology or anything else 'new' I simply want to have a Satnav that I can take to the car, plug in and it will work. At the end of the day, I take out the satnav and lock the car.
Any help would be most appreciated

Yes they just plug into a 12v cigarette lighter socket.

Most satnavs fix to the windscreen by suction, so when you leave the car it\'s best to take the suction bracket with you as well as the device itself; and wipe off the tell-tale circular suction mark from the windscreen.
