By having armed police on the streets?
Nipped up town today and there was a police car parked up outside the shopping centre with 2 armed police.
Seemed a bit pointless to me. Anyone that wished to blow up a shopping centre isn't going to make it obvious that they have a bomb strapped to them. A copper or two with guns outside isn't going to prevent a suicide bomber from exploding himself inside.
LOL DTC. Reminds me of the old joke...
An old man walks into a ice cream shop, and sits down with difficulty....
He orders a ice cream cone and the waiter asks "Crushed nuts?"
The old man replies, "No arthritis"
Actually, I feel unnerved seeing armed police around the streets. That frightens me. I would rather there were undercover police doing a slightly different task.

I didn't want to say Tills, but that exactly how I felt as well today.
(But that's probably got something to do with my own dislike of the police anyway...)
I posted this on another thread a couple of days ago
Whilst the sight of these heavily armed Troops will make a lot of people feel safer in reality I'm not sure of the practicality of it.
Terrorists don't wear a uniform or have a placard stating their intentions so don't stand out from the crowd, and as regarding armed Troops as a deterrent, remember the terrorists are suicide bombers they want to die that is their intention.
now if minty, ummm, pixie, mazie, albs, nettie, wendi, queenie, tambo and pasta appeared, wearing militia and carrying serious arms, I'd run an AB mile.....
Pity there wasn't an armed copper in the foyer of the arena. Might, just might, have been able to spot the signs and do something. Or would the bleeding-heart liberals have thought it inappropriate, sign of a police state or all the rest of the rubbish. Sorry if you find armed police outside shopping centres 'pointless'. Maybe the police have good reason to be there. Or are the Lefties clairvoyants too?
