I gave up as soon as I realised dead people were talking to us! I was unsure last week as to carry on with it, thought I would give it another try, but a big nono.

I've Skyplused the series to watch later, but I've seen such bad reviews I think I might not bother with it.
I read the book - that was quite enough.
Well, having seen 2 episodes - I'll watch the last one .. but it is strange and I certainly won't be rushing to read the book.

More power to your elbow Ouzel, I thought I couldn't face any more of the claptrap.
Trust me to be awkward - I'm enjoying it.

Pssssst Caran , it's not dead people who are talking.
Question Author
Mamya what was he doing then talking out of his coffin in preview?
Oh I thought you meant the web posts.

That's just artistic licence - still it wouldn't do if we all liked the same stuff.

Okay Mamya , understood.
It started of ok but by half way through the first episode I gave up
I gave up half way through the first episode and deleted it from Sky+.
I'm ok with it, I obviously think that someone is responsible for playing back pre-recorded videos. I am a little annoyed at the usual statutory porn ( young man being masturbated by schoolgirl in the village library & soiling several books) but apart from that I am enjoying the story.
I'm quite liking it although I think that some of the characters could be more fully explained eg young lady with the headphones. We may know next week.
The book is brilliant - whilst the characters are a little one dimensional it builds to a terrific (sad) ending and you really do feel for some of them. I am failing to see how they can do it justice in 3 episodes. Read the book....

ps: the porn is crucial to understanding the lifestyle/behaviour that Crystal accepts as normality. She is only meant to be around 15. I don't think that has been explained at all well.
Cheers auntie for the explanation.

Ron.
Sorry jakep, the bbc have changed the ending! JK Rowling agreed to it as she said the original was too sad for a Sunday Night.
The girl with the headphones, in the book, self harms, but it appears not on the TV.
I really enjoyed the book, but from what has been said on here I'm glad I didn't watch it on TV.
I was unsure after the first episode, but when the voice of the dead man came over the picture, I thought that it might have redeeming features. Last night I enjoyed the acting, the people are so obnoxious! I'm quite concerned about Krystal, she is vulnerable. Can't imagine where the blogs are coming from, I thought it was the son of the half-brother, but perhaps not.
I'll stick with it. Julia McKenzie is an absolute delight, and I have known people who are a bit like her!
I'm enjoying it also...it's just quirky enough to keep my interest. Maybe I'm easily pleased.
Julia is wonderful "no solids in the En suite"...

.
I too laughed at the no solids in the ensuite! I've not read the book but the characters are so stereo-typed.
