no i just can't, i am sure it's enlightening and she is awe inspiring, but somehow this would be too upsetting...

Its gruesome em, but so totally inspiring, she has just received her face transplant, 10 mins left of programme....... but will be on Channel 44 at 10pm. What a brave, brave lady and lovely family. Truly humbling.
I set it up for record. It looks really interesting.

Will I be requiring Kleenex?
No way. Too upsetting.

It is upsetting but only that it is not nice to look at (for us viewers) Imagine how her family felt as they looked at her, they didn't show any revulsion, and while filming neither her family or the lady herself (Charlie) ever broke down once. She was blind and had no hands either to guide herself or "see" by touch. The transformation at the end of the film was really remarkable - what a gift those surgeons have!
Doctors are miracle workers. That woman is lucky to be alive today.
I agree Ann. Who cares if it upsets us. Imagine what her and her poor family have had to go through!
I'm looking forward to watching it.
It makes our trivial problems somehow small doesn't it? Inspiring.

It was a chimpanzee though Ann, that had been raised like a child.

Her face was almost back to a normal face at the end..........
That's the problem with raising these wild animals as "one of our own". It just doesn't work. That's not how mature intended!

It said a Chimpanzee on the filming Chrissa, but on the American News Bulletins it showed, the breaking news on screen said Orangutan - it didn't really look like a chimp, very big, but maybe because it was old. I think it said the owner had been giving it medication beforehand, wonder how she feels as Charlie was her best friend.
Orangutans are orange or brown though Ann, not black. Not that it matters.
I've seen this program before and I'm pretty sure it was a chimp. I do feel sorry for this woman but she was extremely naive. When will people learn they can't take wild animals into their homes for their own amusement! The real victim here is the Chimp!

Chimps are naturally aggressive animals and extremely powerful. It has no place being in this woman's home and should be left in peace in it's natural environment with it's own kind. We share 99% of our DNA with Chimps and we can't stop killing each other why should they be any different?

There is a great documentary about this subject called "Project Nim" IMDB http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1814836/

You can watch it here...... http://www.movie2k.to/Project-Nim-watch-movie-1129977.html

It's a fantastic documentary that holds no punches.

Quote from by Mondo Giallo on IMDB......"The essential message of the film is that you should not try to transport a wild animal into human society and not expect repercussions. Some of the people in the film are just guilty of naivety, dangerous as it was. As much as a story about a remarkable primate, it's a story about human stupidity, human callousness and – thanks to Bob Ingersoll – human kindness. It's overall a remarkable documentary."
Bitten off by an ORANGUTAN?! But they're really mellow peaceful primate cousins, something's wrong there.
...ah, it was actually a chimpanzee.
