one doesn't expect the ceremony to be anywhere near to the Chinese in Beijing, the cost would likely bankrupt us.
But a farm yard, countryside scene seems rather a strange concept.
What do you reckon

Just been watching this on the news, does seem rather bizarre. My 13 year old asked if the fireworks will scare the animals, not sure we'll have any. I thought the opening ceremony was going to be a celebration of the NHS, a couple of friends went for auditions.

NHS, that seems just as odd, would they have a Hattie Jaques type as Matron strutting around the stage, demanding the ward is cleaned from top to bottom, and telling these young nurses what's what. Can see it now.. x
I think its sounds quite wonderful!

the critics are out already, not least the bloke on the news just now, who said he thinks it's elitist and not representative of modern day multicultural Britain.
Pathetic. What's it got to do with celebrating athletics? I only caught a glimpse - does the Rover's Return or the Queen Vic feature?
I heard it being talked about this morning and isn't it being done by a film director - Danny ......? It sounded wonderful, I agree with knowabit.
What a joke. I'm very pro the Olympics being held here but this sets us up to be a laughing stock. Is Postman Pat delivering the invites?

Question Author
we could all be wrong of course, and it will be wonderful..
That's him em, Danny Boyle. This guy knows what he's doing so I wouldn't be so quick to condemn.
Mr McCartney is singing - reason enough to give it a miss or watch with no sound perhaps?
I will admit Im not a fan of the agricultural angle they are aiming at but I will give them the benefit of the doubt as quite often these things turn out quite well in the end
Question Author
i was watching him explain to various people about the ideas, concept,
but in all honesty, how does this reflect London specifically. He may be a great film director, though I didn't like Slumdog Millionaire much, i would have hoped for pageantry, British History, something military, naval, seeing how we are, or have been a seafaring nation.
Question Author
Cazz, perhaps you are right, but the end of the Beijing Olympics, with the handover, we had Becks kicking a ball, and some lame dancers prancing about, which was an embarrassment.
