Whats your fave TV series...?

I love getting into a gripping series. Most of the things I watch these days are total and utter rubbish. Anyone got anything to recommend? I love crime things but I'm open to watching anything as long as its good :-)

xoxo.

Yes swan-p its from the novel by Alex Haley and was about the slave trade and went down through the generations of various families - very popular TV mini series at the time.

I agree cupid, these reality shows drive me nuts. They seem to be very popular at the moment sadly! I can just feel my brain dripping out my ears when I watch them!!
I Claudius was with Derek Jacobi and dear old George Baker .Briiliant series .

Roots looks very interesting Ann, quite a way from what I would normally watch. Nice to see something a little different.

And oh my days shaneystar! I hadn't realised George Baker has passed away! Thats so sad! That completely passed me by! I watched him in the Ruth Rendell Mysteries!
Lip Service BBC3 on a Friday, second series..started last friday...I did put on about it but no response. Set in Glasgow.
My all time favourite - Hill Street Blues - other half and I always say 'You be careful out there' when we go out - sad really!
'The Thornbirds' is my fav book, I couldn't bring myself to watch it on TV
in case it spoiled my interpretation of it.

Going right back to B&W I loved 'The Grove Family' one of the first BBC soaps, along with 'Compact'
(I loved Eldorado too)

Jem - I thought the TV drama of The Thornbirds was actually better than the book.

Night Shaney, thanks for posting :-)
WHU010, when I was working in Helsinki, "Hill Street Blues" dubbed over in Finnish was a real treat. It was still the best thing on.
Yep, me too. Night-night folks.

Shoestring, and wagon train and The Waltons!
At the moment it's Once Upon a Time, which is on Ch5. If you liked Lost then this is by the same writers.
