CHRISTIANS worldwide have remembered the martyrdom of St Pancake of Antioch, who was stuffed full of hot cheese, fried and repeatedly thrown into the air around 530 AD.

I'd remember him more if he'd been filled with smokey bacon and smothered in maple syrup, but then I'm a Heathen not a Christian.

What a way to go!!
was the cheese already hot when he was stuffed or was he stuffed with cold cheese then heated

its an important distinction, i suspect this may lead to a splitting of the church....

Did not give a toss about it ?
Is that why they were called Friers??

Great answers ABers nice to have a smile.
Yes I got out of my sick bed and made pancakes for my son, think he would have dragged the hob up to my bed if I hadnt!
Heretic.................he was beaten with a fork, fried in a pan and then had his wounds dressed with lemon juice.
[email protected]!!..that is cruelty beyond.. ..er.. .any more you can think up!! ;-)
Done a bit of research, he was definitely tossed!
yes, an hour with me....
Yes, sounds like a real Salads Chef to me.
30 seconds would suffice! ;-)
After the schism of the juices (AD 650) some misguided fools believe that it was a mix of lemon and orange that was used to dress his wounds and the Diet of Paris declared that he was doused in Grand Marnier and set light to (that's the French for you!)
I remembered 'Pancake' day, only I thought it was last Tuesday.
The G/kids were here & had great fun tossing 'em, a few mishaps but still fun. Afterwards we stuffed ourselves with them with lemon & sugar.
A lot of faffing about so won't be doing em again for some time.

It's always the Tuesday before the beginning of Lent!

Here in Guildford there were organised pancake races down the cobbled High Street, with participants tossing real pancakes in frying pans whilst running!

And of course I indulged when I got back home! Yummy!
LOL, ed has changed to$$$r into Salads Chef. That'll teach me!
That'll be Ab Editor's contribution to the swear box, maggie :-))
