I watched the first episode of S1 and thought it was a joke, I cringed for this (or so I thought) reasonably good actor, as I think he is a great comic actor. Or maybe I took it too seriously.... is it meant to be funny?

It's not meant to be "funny" Meg88, but gently amusing in places. Definitely not to be taken seriously.....More Midsommer in the Caribbean than Taggart...........:-)

It was a bit of a shock sudenly seeing Harry from Silent Witness in it as well! I saw a trailer for Silent Witness last week, and he doesn't seem to be in it any more - I imagine that they have found someone else to step into his shoes.
