What a wasted opportunity, I was looking forward to an account of the life of Le Dame de fer and all we got was, "she's going senile hammerred" home at us. Yes lots of old people suffer the same, accept it and tell the meat of the story. I cannot claim credit for this account from IMDB but it sums up the movie very well:
"dementia dementia dementia ghost dementia marriage dementia dementia ghost irakillspolitician, why? dementia dementia dementia makeover dementia ghost shewontlistentoanyoneaboutthefalklands, why? dementia dementia dementia ghost ghost herhotelroomisbombed, why? ementia dementia dementia denentia horridtaxtobepaidbytherichandpoorinequalmeasure, why? dementia dementia ghost gone. "
Wasn't made by Arthur Scargill was it?

I enjoyed it.
Is she still with us?
didn't watch it as I still suffer from flashbacks from when she was P.M.
I think if you were expecting a historical biopic you would have been disappointed. As far as I could see it was an account of La Dame de Fer as you call her as she is these days with flashbacks from her past life as they weave in and out of her dementia.
I enjoyed it too and I really wasn't expecting to.
Yes, Sir.p.
Brainfury's got it - the preview said that it was in current time with flashbacks - I didn't expect anything else.
Sad times 1979 to 1990
Expected some peurile regurgitation of her career what we got was a very good biopic of an old woman with a past. Streep was superb as is Jim Broadbent....glad I watched it
What an absolute travesty of a film meant to be showing Margaret Thatchers life. One of the worst film showing somebodys life. It was an insult to the woman who was the longest serving PM of this country. It never even showed any women in the Houses of Parliament scenes. Dennis Thatcher looked more like stanley Unwin. who kept turning up after he died ,what was that supposed to be about then. What ever happened to her last day in the H of P which was probably her best performance ever. Vertually nothing about her becoming leader of the conservative party. How can you have a biography about dementia with flashbacks about somebody who wa one of the greatest figures in the last century.
Gollob you have completely missed the point of the film.
Damn, i missed it. I would have liked to have seen that.
I've recorded that - and I'm disappointed already. :o(

Is it worth bothering?
Naomi it is a superb film so long as you're not expecting a historical biography like gollob clearly was.
I didn't watch it either baza same reason. I thought she was the worst thing that ever happened to this country. Strange she should get dementia. I am an atheist so I don't believe in this, but my mother always said god pays debts without money. Makes you wonder.
Starbuck, that was one of my mother's sayings too.
It is worth it, Naomi, you'll get the gist of what the film will be like early on.
ok, I'll give it a go. Thanks. :o)
Starbuckone I can't understand your reasoning. I agree with your description of Thatcher but that doesn't mean dismissing that era of recent history as if it didn't happen. I thought it was a great film but it's important to treat it for what it is and not view it like a programme on the Biography channel.
Brainfury - I lived through it, I do not want to live through it again.
