Parents will

I am desperately trying to find out the details of my fathers and stepmothers place and date of death. I now know these details of my stepmother but my father eludes me. Im sure he died in America although he was english born. Both lived in Canada for many years. I would also like to see a copy of their wills. How do I go about this. I need this information for a solicitor and need to collate as much information as possible to reduce what could be quite an expensive fee. Any help would be very much appreciated.

If you don't know the country of death it is going to be a very hard search indeed.

Is his a 'common' name?

Can you trace him from his last known address?
