Because he couldn't sleep, and called on a friend, they went to a 24/7 Asda.

Ah- I was picturing a teenager. Was any reason given?
Question Author
If you mean a criminal history, no.
Question Author
Reason was.... you looked suspicious.
Contest it and don't let it go - f*cking pigs.
Question Author
I should have added, along with the other chap. No history there either.
I think a complaint is in order.
Question Author
I wondered if there was anyway of contesting, or having prints destroyed.
Not au fait with all this.
Unless he is being charged with a crime, fingerprints should not be taken. Maybe that's Scottish law of course?
what was he arrested for? It couldn;t just have been 'looking suspicious', the police would have just told him to leave the store. Did he see a duty solicitor?
Presumably, if the pair were arrested in ASDA it was ASDA staff who called the police, so if they were released without any charges they should ask ASDA for an explanation and apology and maybe a goodwill gesture
if he has fingerprints taken he was going through the process after being charged at the desk. what was he charged with?
Question Author
Sorry, I didn't make myself clear.
They were arrested en route to Asda.
So they went for a walk to ASDA at 3am to pick up some bargains
You can get arrested for looking 'suspicious'

You can also get arrested for 'levitating'

I suspect he isn't telling you the full story.

Who on earth rings a friend in the middle of the night, to go to a supermarket looking for bargains?

Ask him what really happened.
No your finger prints and DNA are taken when arrested, you don't have to be charged, but The Protection of Freedoms Act gained Royal Assent on 1 May 2012. Sections 1 – 25 of the Act cover DNA and fingerprint retention and they ought to be destroyed.
