Insurance companies are so variable, would like to look around
for a better deal than have now. Can anyone recommend a company.
I tried to call a number of them but got fed up with being asked all
our details, all i wanted was to see who gives a good deal on home contents
insurance.

can anyone advise please.
I am afraid that you will be asked questions before you can get a quotation ,that,s how it works

ok, but sometime if you don't want to take up their insurance they continually bombard you with literature, and some phone calls, which is what i was trying to avoid.
Do what I'm doing, and going round the price comparison websites. enter your details once and that's it. Usually you can see iffy ones, good ones, etc, and you can get an idea. I'm using it to negotiate with my current insurer cos they say they will match a legitimate lower quote.
By 'good' do you mean cheap? The cheap ones are not necessarily the best. I was with Aviva and you couldnt find a worse company to deal with if you need to make a claim - wouldn't touch them with a barge pole
Funny you should ask this, today I've just renewed ours, Last year we went through all this too and settled with 'Tesco' Phone this No/ 0845 3006600
They're v/helpful.
It will each year be renewed automatically (with your permission) so no worries whether it runs out. A simple phone call will cancel if you so wish.

Good Luck. - Jem

Thank you, only need contents insurance at this stage, if we are going to change, its partly come about because the people we currently use seem hell bent on not paying out for anything. I know that is the way of things, but seriously miffed over the last one.
I pay just under £70.00 per Year for £12,000 Home Contents Cover with Aviva.

That's seems ok, might well look into that, cheers
Go to your local Insurance Broker and let them do the legwork for you.

We currently have cover up to £25,000 but most seems to be simply fire, theft in the home, and as the cooker went awol, thought they might cough up, but they didn't
As I posted earlier, see an Insurance Broker, they will determine your Demands and Needs and search the market for suitable cover. If you follow their recommendations you should end up with the policy you require not a standard policy quoted through one of the aggregator websites. For your information, these websites earn commission the same as a broker for any sales made through their comparison search engines, without doing any work on your behalf, which is why you are asked a series of generic questions, without considering that one size doesn't fit all.
