I'm sure I've seen these in the past, but can't remember where, alas! But there's a three-way switched adaptor available these days that has neon indicators for each socket. It might fit the bill. Tesco has them. See here |

(Sun 17:09 10/Feb/08) Dont fret too much about leaving the slow cooker on overnight most use around 100 Watts, so leaving it on for 10 hours will have cost you around 15 pence. | |

You could buy a timer adapterthat plugs into the socket and then you plug any appliance into the adapter. The on and off times can be set to anything from a minute to 24 hours. They're are useful when you go on holiday, if used to turn on a light in the evening, giving the impression someone is at home. |

According to my last bill, my electricity supplier (e-on), charged me 17.2 pence/kWh for the first 202kWh, 10.31pence/kWh thereafter. I have a night meter, units recorded on this meter were charged at 4.65 pence/kWh The above prices require VAT to be added at 5%. To add to the confusion, I received a 4 rebate (single fuel). I quoted you are top end price at 15 pence/kWh, if you have a night meter, your 10 hours of slow cooking only cost around 5 pence. |

(Tue 19:35 12/Feb/08) A final thought - if you do have a night meter, you would have to accidently leave your slow cooker on over night for 100 nights, before the adaptor will pay for itself. |
