Mummy? (I've never heard of anything but 'hen').
Hen salmon? Is that something like a **** - roach?
(chuckle).
Dash it all! My above reply has been censored and spoiled the joke. The deleted word is the gender opposite of hen (begins with c and rymes with rock). Jokes lose something when they have to be explained.
stages= alevin [fry]...baggit [after spawning]......kelt [spent]....samlet [young] ...smolt [1st sea migration]....sprag[young].....sprog [2nd year] male[****] ...female [hen] offspring [grilse / peal ] hope this is of some help

Just to correct two inaccuracies
A grilse is a salmon (of either sex), which returns to its birth river after spending only one winter at sea.
A baggot/baggit is a hen salmon that has failed to spawn. After spawning, she becomes a kelt.

Plus , a male salmon that has failed to spawn is known as a rawner.
