No not unless you have enough to weigh in as scrap metal , scrap steel is about £200 a tonne , so you would need a few to get any cash back.
Very old mainframe computers used to have a significant amount of Gold in the connections and were worth money but not modern ones .
Here's a video made by a Dutch chap..Hope it helps.

Think you'd need quite a few and plenty of time to make any serious money.

thanks eddie, as i say i have 7, but nowhere near a tonne.

incidentally would you have any idea what the average scrap price would be for a baby belling oven?
I have just sold 4 old knackered laptops to the local computer shop for £45
They had Ben in the loft for years.
Been.....
As the people here have stated with common metals the price is in the weight.

A baby belling doesn't weigh very much, and whoever took it would have to break out the component parts, so again one probably isn't worth a lot.
There must be something to be had as when I was putting my knackered tower out last week for the 'monster bin men' to pick up it was immediately picked up by a passing van (they do the rounds to see if there's something worth picking up). I should have asked him...
put them on ebay.
99p start.list as pc computer spares or repairs no reserve
if you cant sell them join freecycle in your local area and give them away
Apart from non ferous metals eg Copper Aluminium other scrap metal is just classed as Steel scrap and the price is around £200 per tonne. I now see 'rag and bone ' men coming round again and collecting scrap metal. A day of going round the streets can mean over a tonne of scrap , £200 a day tax free !beats working . plus they will get some Copper Aluminium,Lead (old car batterys) to increase the income.
my eldest son takes bags of electric cable (unstripped as the yard won't take it if you've burnt the plastic off the copper) and he does quite well as a side line. the best is coaxle cable,
Yes my brother is an electrician , if he gets a rewireing job he can get an extra £100 or even more from selling the old Copper cable to the scrap yard. A lot of customers have realised this now and insist on the old cable being returned to them.
