I've had my card details stolen again. :-(

I'm never using my card to purchase anything online ever again.

Jesus...how many times is that? Will you get the money back?
I hope it was a credit card rather than a debit card. With the former they're stealing the banks money.
On what site did this happen NM?
Hope you managed to Cancel Cards in time NoMercy ! One has to be so careful these days. Sorry to hear about that !
It's really annoying. It's happened to me a couple of times now. The problem is that more and more items are not available for purchase any other way these days, and that is only going to continue. However, since the introduction of Verified by Visa, all has been well (touch wood!).

I now have a separate credit card with a £500 limit that I use for nothing other than on-line purchases.

Well this is the thing that really annoys me. I used my card twice online yesterday (I hardly EVER use my card online). I booked a hotel for this weekend and I bought some tit tape from Miss Groovy. A couple of hours later, a company in St. Louis were processing the fraudulent transaction. The transaction is still pending, but Barclays reckon they can't stop it going through, they can only stop my card to prevent further misuse and then dispute the payment when it shows on my statement.

Firstly: Why should I have to fight to get my money back - they should just block the payment!

Secondly: I've got a friggin hotel booked for this weekend with that card!

Btw, both time this has happened, I'd made purchased with Miss Groovy. I've emailed them and I'm awaiting a reply.

Excuse my appalling grammar - I'm doing about 10 things at once here.
Have you used your card in a resaurant?
Question Author
Mark - you're a genius! I had the verified by visa come up for the hotel transaction, but not for the other one. x x
Hope Miss Groovy respond in a positive way NoMercy, it's not your fault. They should take responsibility being as it's their website. Hope things work out OK !
Harsh... I shop online quite a lot and where I can use paypal I do. I think I must have been lucky to this point. This Miss Groovy place sounds like a nightmare.
I agree Verified by Visa gives more peace of mind.

No, Dave. I used it the other day to purchase a takeaway and gave my card details over the phone, but I know the owner really well.

There is a pattern emerging with the Website I mentioned. Last time the transaction that didn't go through was £873, but Barclays were on the ball and declined it. This time it was £45 and they let it go through. Did it not occur to them that I was using my card in England and could not have been in the USA a couple of hours later ff.s?
Doesn't your bank call you when an unexpected cost or place pops up, ours does and then cancels it! Mind you I'm talking about visa.
Question Author
No, because it was an internet transaction and I'd already made two that day. I would have thought that the company being based in St. Louis would have flagged something up, but alas not.

I've been reassured that I will have a new card by tomorrow or Thursday and that I will get my money reimbursed when my next statement comes out.
