Does anyone know how I can remove a label from a new plastic box? I've tried gently scratching it off bit by bit, and when that didn't work, I left the box soaking in water for two days, but the label is still firmly stuck. I'd be grateful for any advice. Thank you.

You could try heating it with your hairdryer or using nail varnish remover. Hope it works for you.
put some cooking oil or wd-40 on some cottonwool or tissue and place it over the label and leave it for half an hour ,it should come off easily then
Spray it with a bit of hairspray and then rub it with a clean dry cloth. This works a treat!
There are several different adhesives used on these sticky lables, and so they'd tend to use different solvents to remove them.
But one which works on 99% of labels is 'Sticky Stuff Remover', available at Lakeland, (and at many of those discount stores run by the Asian community). It's citrus oil based stuff.
Endorse Tinker above on using wd40. It's great for getting marks off lino too!
White spirits does pretty well

Thanks everyone. (Why do some manufacturers stick such hard-to-remove labels on? Some peel off so easily, and yet others are there for the duration!). Thanks again.
