Having just purchased a JCB-AANG 50mm air nail gun as a present, I have now found out that a compressor will be needed to make this work (obviously I am no DIY lady myself). Could someone please advise me as to the best and cheapest, if possible, type of compressor I now also need to purchase.
Many thanks.

they vary, almost as much as compressed air tools do, though checking out Aldi and Netto stores is always a good bet for a bargain, they often have in the type of thing you need need for less than 100
You need to ensure that the compressor is compatible with your nail gun most importantly the air displacement in cubic feet per minute (cfm) and working pressure (psi/Bar).

Screwfix have a range of compressors starting at around 70 which are capable of around 6cfm, 120psi/8Bar.
I presume you got a User Manual with the gun. If not, there's one here.

It shows the working air pressure range as 65 - 100 psi, (though, strangely, it later on states that 95 psi is the maximum operating pressure).

It also says that nailing at a rate of 160 nails a minute, (wow!) will use about 1.1 cu ft air, so a 6 cu ft/min compressor should be fine. (This is also around the lowest size of output commonly produced). A 1/4 in fitting is needed, but all sorts of adaptors are readily available.

Have a look in a larger B&Q. I'm sure they'll have a suitable compressor at around the 69 mark.
