water
De-grease then salt water....or heat it up with a blow lamp and cool it with salt water.
water?
oxygen + time
Degreasing it before getting it wet might help speed thing up a bit.
im dying to know why someone would want to do that
Definitely need to start by getting the grease off first.
Rust is formed when oxygen from atmospheric air reacts with metals to create a metalic oxide such as iron (II) oxide (chemical formula: FeO). This metalic oxide is rust.

rust is not caused by water.
Just leave it be for a while.
Sabotaging his exercise bike is not the way to go about it!
like he'll never guess who's done it!
i'm surprised you partner DOESN'T want to shove off to the garage with you around!
But Mr I...damp atmospheric air causes more rust than dry atmospheric air ...thats why cars from California last longer than cars in the UK....could you explain this please?
No I can't !
...but I wanted a chemistry lesson :-)
Take a long ride on a short pier ?
Sorry to disappoint :p
Mr. Not-so-incredible: since when has hydrated ferric oxide been FeO?
I don't know!

So don't you ever do what you want to do? why are you so against this bike, your husband's keeping himself fit - good on him.
you may try reverse psychology, when you see him getting ready to use it, jump on and say its' great having the bike in the warm. He'll have it back in the garage before the week's out.
