would it be appropriate to have a heading (don't know what) so that we can remember or enquire about AB'ers we are concerned about? people who may be seriously ill or have died. it would be fitting for them to be remembered by their AB friends and colleagues.

what does anyone else think?

i mean serious absences not just flounces off or similar.

So Aber's we are NOT concerned about would drift off into oblivion.......

Who would read or consult this new AB section but more importantly who would reply?

Actually, in theory, a good idea........but in practice......?
do you mean like a separate topic ?
Good idea if can be done.
As I suggested on a thread last night, it is sensible for regular Abers to be in touch by personal email with at least one other ABer who can be trusted. If in my case something serious happened to me my OH would not have a clue about using AB but may email friends from my email address book. I am in touch with Mrs O outside AB.
ED. may have an opinion on this...........i think ;they; are in gaming last i saw .
I agree with Ann - which is why I've suggested several times that we have an FAO section where we can leave an email address if we want to, or direct another ABer to a particlar question.
to what end exactly? Thousands of ABers just leave the site (by far the majority in fact). It's very rare that a relative will come on here and say that someone has died - I can only think of two cases, off the top of my head.

But that thread yesterday, I have to say, looked bizarre to me: obituaries for someone who may still be alive. If he did look in again, he might be touched to see that people thought well of him, but he might also be alarmed that everyone's written him off.

I'm not at all certain that this sort of thing should be encouraged. If you absolutely definitely know someone has died, fine; otherwise not.
If you have an FAO section, I think it`ll just be used for lots of personal messaging between people (to the exclusion of others on what is a public forum). There`s an AB Facebook page - can`t people contact each other on that?
I think Sqad knew more about his illness than we did jno, that is why he came to that conclusion.

no i mean a separate heading under topics to be used, hopefully, by sensible, responsible members to enquire about people they have not seen posting for some time. at the present time these enquiries can get lost in chatterbank.

that is not a helpful reply sqad. of course we can be concerned about all AB'ers but if they are posting on a fairly regular basis then we are surely not concerned about their absence. i am speaking about others and te absence, whether it is fairly short (2-3 weeks) or longer, maybe even prolonged.
I didn't know about the AB facebook page 237SJ - where is that and how do you get on it please?
I agree with jno.

Ann86, it was a conclusion based on good evidence - but it might still be wrong.
Yes I do tend to agree that if he is still ok it would be awful to see comments that he has died. But on the other hand Sqad drew his conclusion on the illness, maybe he knew more details than we did, being a doctor.
LOL don`t ask me Ann. I have nothing to do with Facebook. There is an ab site though.
237SJ, I did suggest that an FAO section be limited to just a few words to prevent that happening. I don't think anyone here should 'pursue' another ABer in any way at all - that's intrusive - but having a facility to post an email address would be useful.
Ann, who are you talking about?
