i do what shylock says. Nippon's sweet, so the ants carry it back to the nest and feed it to the queen. After a few days - end of ants.

If they are in the house DETHLAC is the best available. Spary on all entrances to the house including where telephone and aerials enter. It dries to a hard lacquer and last ages. Be patient as the ants walking over it kills them and usually in a couple of days no more ants. Outside agree totally with the previous replies
