Anyone know the answer to the mystery ship on page 29 of this month's Navy News?
There is a picture but obviously i can't show it here. The questions reads;
'This month's mystery ship was an inshore minesweeper named after a village in north Somerset. She was completed in a yard in Lowestoft in early February 1956 and sold 30 years later. What was her name?'

Thanks in advance

Well that one's certainly tested my googling skills! HMS Shipham looks to be a good candidate to me. Although she was first launched on 14/07/55, she wasn't completed until 03/02/56, by Brooke Marine of Lowestoft. She was named after a village in north Somerset, and sold in 1986. So now all that's left for you to do is to compare your picture with this one:...

Chris - that's marvellous. Looks a good candidate. Picture is very similar to the one they show in the mag. Thanks for taking the time.Cheers.
There's also an HMS Monkton, launched 1955, moved to Hong Kong for use as a patrol vessel, and sold in 1985. Dunno about fitting out at Lowestoft though.
