Just cooked it for the first time & it was lovely, cooked in milk in the oven with salt, pepper, parsley & butter (made a white sauce out of the liquer) served with petit pois and buttery mash......... mmmmmmmmm
Just wondered if anyone else has used this fish and how
You can cook basa (cobbler) in exactly the same way as you cook cod. It is used as a cheap alternative by many of the frozen fish product manufacturers.
I like it, but it does come a long way, from Vietnam and Thailand.
yes, I think its much tastier than cod, more like plaice. I fry the fillet uncoated from frozen in a little oil turning once and letting each side get a little golden and crispy. I add a little butter and lemon or lime juice to the pan then serve piuring the pan juices over. Season with a little sea salt.
yes I thought that was a bit silly, I emailed Youngs about it..it nearly put me off buying the fish. The fillets are a little fragile, like a plaice fillet, which is why i say only turn once, let one side get well cooked and firm up before you turn it
