we have been happily eating above fish from Aldi and saying its good fried in egg and breadcrums. Mr S said just out of curiosity Google it see which waters it comes from, well I did and the River Cottage article has told me enough to never touch it again !how could I have been so stupid.[dont answer that bit].
What got me thinking was if this was mentioned in 2008, and we're now 2012, have they cleaned the river up? I doubt it. Mr River Cottage (hugh whatsisname) is more up-to-date with his web-sites. I signed up to his angling campaign some years ago.
''Tests by Asda and Tesco in the UK have found no trace of contaminants.[5] Test from AQIS found trace levels of malachite green, but no other contaminants.[6][7][8]''
malachite isn't harmful either.....carry on eating! :0)
I remember on Rick Stein's tour of Vietnam he mentioned that fish were imported to UK which were caught in the Mekong. He said that they were all OK to eat. Personally I remain to be convinced.
