One of my all time favourite films To Kill a Mockingbird. The female author of the book, Harper Lee, was best friends with Truman Capote. Worth getting the DVD...Capote....from the rental shop if you see it on the shelf. Funny and tragic film.
Corn bread figured in The Green Mile also. Tom Hanks (as great as ever) played a prison guard suffering terribly with prostate problems. A prison inmate uses healing powers to cure him. Hanks goes home and...er....makes his wife very happy all night. His wife is in the best of moods in the morning and bakes some corn bread to give the inmate. I feel hungry now! |

My mum..an Italian..used to make cornbread for us as my dad was from South Carolina. Yummy stuff-best eaten warm from the oven,as it does not keep all that well. Great with pork chops and gravey, southern fried chicken or Black-eyed peas and rice. Real comfort food.
