sweet potatoes

I'm getting some sweet potatoes which I've never used before, are there any tasty recipes out there Abers for me to try? I'd like them as an accompaniment with roast meat.

Just roast them but remember they don't take as long as normal potatoes.

No,no par boiling needed with the recipe. FYI,i hate olives and thus leave them out of the recipe and it is still yummy. So its up to youif you like them!
peel them and cut into rounds about half an inch thick. shallow fry slowly in oil and add a good sprinkling of brown sugan and curry powder. just keep frying till they're done.

Another firm favourite in this house.

I do par boil them with the parsnips and tats, but they are a lot softer than normal tats so I make them a bigger size then par boil for 5 mins. They really do fluff up when shaken and coat the tats and nips well.

Then I just chuck 'em in the oven with the roasting meat for 20 mins then turn, then 20 mins at 200, but that's the temp I like to roast at.....

I also jacket sweet potatoes, they are almost caramelised when they are done, and again less time than a normal potato.

Today is mash day and again 1 sweet potato, a parsnip and normal tats cooked and mashed with butter, soured cream and pepper.

Yum!!!!!

Can't wait to have them
Bake them like baked potatoes but not for so long,slice them open ,add butter and plain cottage cheese-delicious !
Our local sandwich shop bakes them, adds mature grated cheddar and lots of green salad and it is beautiful!
This is a favorite of the southeastern USA:

3 cups mashed baked sweet potato
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla flavoring
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp cinnamon

mix all together and spread into a baking dish. For the topping, blend together 1 stick of butter, 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar & 1/4 cup chopped pecans. Spread on top and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. This is sweet and tasty!

I did pork chops coated with jerk seasoning, satay ones for the kids, roasted sweet potatoes & squash coated in olive oil, thai spices, salt & pepper and some savoury rice............it all went down very well
Nigella's butternut squash and sweet potato soup invoves chopping sweet poatoes, squash and onions into chunks, drizzling over olive oil and a tiny amount of cinnamon and nutmeg and baking for 45 mins before adding vegetable stock I tasted it before adding the stock and thought it would be a great accompaniment to lamb. The soup was great too.
