random question i know but i work in a kitchen and on sundays we do cooked dinners. i've noticed that the chicken halves we cook are only the right hand side of the chicken. when i mentioned this to other people they all started to notice as well but no-one knows the reason why this is!
hope someone can shed some light as its one of those annoying things you just got to know!!

Chickens always sleep on their left side which means all the p!ss and sh!t soaks into the left side of the body leaving the right side to be more tasty

The left sides are normally sent abroad and injected with bleach and water to plump them up and then sold off to supermarkets
i feel sick now !!!!! im left handed .
Methinks Elvis is in wind-up mood tonight. (Any chicken that lies on either side is probably dead. They sleep in a squatting position).

The factory that sends you the chicken halves almost certainly provides legs, breasts and thighs to other people. The guy with the cleaver (or the cutting machine if it's a big operation) probably has the bins for legs, breasts and thighs on one side of his work area, and the bin for half chickens on the other. So he starts by cutting the chicken in half and throwing a half-chicken in the relevant bin. Then he slices up the remaining half and put the portions in the relevant bins.

Chris

PS: (For Shanx): All of the best people are left-handed. Like me, both my parents, all of my grandparents, all of my uncles and aunts (even by marriage!) and all of my cousins ;-)
Thanks for that last bit chris. My son is as well! : )
Don't believe all Chris tell ya. The left side of the chicken gets sent to the Lebanon.

Did anyone see the prog where Nigella Lawson was cooking with a Lebanese left-legged chicken?
Soz..only watch Nigella to see her arse but it`s never in shot so miss all the recipes

Nigella Express...think about it
Nothing to do with the chickens, sorry.

But where would that leave me, Chris? I have what they call, a cross dominance or mixed handedness which just sounds odd to say the least.
The camera's not big enough to get a shot of her a*se in, Elvis!

{:O)
its just what caterers do so everyone gets similar portions.
Are you sure they're all right hand sides?

Half of them might be left hand sides, facing backwards.

definately the right hand side i went through 3 bags just to see when i noticed (far too much time on my hands!)
next time you go out for food and order a half chicken see if its a right hand one!!!
or better yet ask specifically for a left handed one lol
