i thought they were ok ..
One a year would be the limit, in my opinion. Here's what they look like (always sold in a package containing two): http://blogs.kansascity.com/photos/uncategoriz ed/twinkies.jpg, and here's what they're made from:
Enriched Wheat Flour - enriched with ferrous sulphate (iron), B vitamins (niacin, thiamine mononitrate [B1], ribofavin [B12] and folic acid).
Sugar
Corn syrup
Water
High fructose corn syrup
Vegetable and/or animal shortening - containing one or more of partially hydrogenated soybean, cottonseed or canola oil, and beef fat.
Dextrose
Whole eggs
Modified corn starch
Cellulose gum
Whey
Leavenings (sodium acid pyrophosphate, baking soda, monocalcium phosphate)
Salt
Cornstarch
Corn flour
Corn syrup solids
Mono and diglycerides
Soy lecithin
Polysorbate 60
Dextrin
Calcium caseinate
Sodium stearol lactylate
Wheat gluten
Calcium sulphate
Natural and artificial flavours
Caramel colour
Sorbic acid (to retain freshness)
Colour added (yellow 5, red 40)

160 calories per bar (45% from fat).
The real treat, or so I'm told by the kids here in the U.S., is to lightly brown them in a deep fat fryer to make them crispy.
Welcome to the U.S., by the way!
They taste awful.
I have not found any American chocolate that can match British...
Don't go near them, they're vile!!

It,s like a yukie pastry filled with sour cream
THey're not filled with sour cream ... but that really sweet fake cream mix...
p.s. If you do find you like them you can buy them in Cyber Candy in Covent Garden...
