And I can understand that with it's beautiful beaches and castles , on our local news it's said they'd had over a million visitors this summer swelling the local economy to 1billion for the first time,
My question is, Who counts the visitors ? Lol

That can't be true, it's North of Watford ;o)
The same people who say ---'there are 20,000 bees in that hive 'or 1,000,000 people in a crowd. I often wonder who has counted them?
They make it up :-) They probably work out an average of what each spends...

Haha Balders, you need to visit us
My answer is - I don't know. Perhaps they collate bookings?
I love Northumberland and am very happy to live near enough to visit reasonably easily. My part of the world is an unsung paradise. East Riding of Yorkshire - people drive through on their way to Scotland or Northumberland or else they whizz past on the A64 to Scarborough or Whitby. The Yorkshire Wolds is a little-known gem in the country. We have enough tourists (especially on the coast) and the rest of us get on with our age-old lives in a beautiful area.

The best what?
It does not surprise me, it is beautiful.
Question Author
Area to visit NJ...I think, lol

As far North as you can go Bobbi, and most places inbetween.
Luv Robin Hoods Bay.
Question Author
It is Marval and Balders, Robin Hoods Bay is very pretty indeed

I agree, it is a beautiful place. I would move up there like a shot.
But I expect houses for sale are scarce.
They aren't, actually, sharon, and are very reasonable prices. We looked, but didn't want to leave family and friends xx

I'd imagine places like the Dales will be very expensive and the likes of Amble , Seahouses, etc, there'll be generations who continue to live there Sharon
Sharon - the Dales are expensive (but I don't know where you live, if it is London-ish then prices will seem cheap). Round us you can still get a very decent 3-bed semi for c.£150K. A friend lives in Middlesborough area (Teeside)and prices are reasonable - but you need to research your area. A bit further North and inland prices generally fall. We generally try to put-off Southerners - you know the old 'Eh, it's bleak up here' routine. Nothing would entice me to live in the South.
That is cheap Jourdain. Our house in London has an estimated worth of £700,000. I would be able to buy several houses!!!! :-)
Sharon - for half that you could have a lovely 4-bed detached. Actually I know of one going for c.£400K with lovely grounds, double garage and a sea view. Family and so on tend to keep people anchored in their own area. We found it impossible to move further south to a job because we would have had to come down to a 2-bed terrace, when we had children who demanded 3 beds.. That's life :)

Wow Sharon you'd get a great property up here ( or 2) sea facing ,that's if you could take our harsh winters , lol
