Hi all - I think my old 32" Sanyo HD-ready TV is on its way out, so have had a quick look at a couple of 40" models, links below. Obviously, there are many more out there to choose from, but I would appreciate any input on those I've looked at (literally the first 2 I saw) & any suggestions pointing me towards anything similar.

My only "must-have" is a headphone socket - I'd also like 3 HDMI ports. I really can't go over £300 or 40" & I would need delivery which is why I started at Currys.

Thanks for your time & attention :-)

Fenders Panasonic would be my choice, has 3 HDMI Sockets
JVC is a good make. One of my tv's a jvc and it has been brilliant.
I took advice here when looking for a washing machine and as a result, thoroughly recommend using AO.com for purchase of larger items.

Good quality, delivered to the door at the time they agree, and for a small fee they will dispose of your old TV. I cant beat the suggestion already made by Douglas, just endorsing it really having first hand experience of using AO.

Douglas - I've only heard good things about ao & will delve into the site, thank you. I was looking at 4K boxes though "just because"...

Fender - again, everyone speaks highly of Richer Sounds & I *might* be able to cadge a lift to Brighton to actually look at some sets there - good thought, thank you.

Baldric - thank you, though 43" would be a stretch to fit here - doable, but only just...

Sharon - yes, I used to have JVC hi-fi kit & it was superb & I *kind of* like the look of that one...

All of this is really helpful, thank you everyone :-)

Sorry Maydup, you posted while I was typing - thank you too, I promise to look at all the suggestions carefully. It's not a huge spend, but is a lot for me right now so I need to get it right :-)
I agree with Fender's suggestion, especially buying from Richer Sounds who are just brilliant and giving a 6-year guarantee. In fact whatever you buy, buy it from RS if you can.
Have a look at this link from Tech Radar. They are advising on the 10 Best and most affordable TVs in the 40" range. Tech Radar is a brilliant site. Hope it helps you make your choice.

Question Author
ladybirder - thanks, I'll have a look at that a bit later :-)

I'm sure you already know that 43" is a diagonal measurement and not a full width one, ( just a thought ;o)
Question Author
Baldric - yes I do, but the width given for the Panasonic 43" (which I like...) is 97cm - that would mean moving 2 small bookcases instead of one - as I said, just about doable, but Lord, a faff... :-)
This is a tidy TV Lie In......swear by Panasonic myself. Quality. Argos sell it but yo may source a seller that delivers. Full HD enabled not "ready".

Question Author
Togo - thanks, that is nice - what do you (& others) think about heading down the 4K route? I use Netflix a lot, they stream in 4K & a couple of reviews I've read say that you *can* see a difference, even at the smaller screen sizes.
Love it Lie In. Using a Panasonic UHD mega size telly at the mo (TX58DX802B). You may find it hard to source in the size and price range mind.
Re: 4K TVs.This is what Which? says on the subject....(scroll down past the "sign up now" message)....

Once again, thank you all for your help. I've decided I can fit a 43" screen in, so have ordered this one - https://tinyurl.com/yxqubwmx for delivery on Wednesday.

The Panasonic at Richer Sounds was unavailable (one refurbished model in Plymouth), every model I looked at in Argos was "not available for delivery to my address" or not in stock anywhere near me. Heigh-ho, it's done now :-)
My current TV is a Samsung 42" - it's been brilliant & I would buy the same brand again. Current model SAMSUNG UE43RU7100KXXU 43" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV
Question Author
Hi Dave - I looked at that model but it doesn't have a headphone output socket.
i think jvc are made by vestel in turkey.
Question Author
fender - thanks, I'm unsure why you posted that, but I don't care - if the set works as advertised, I'll be happy.
