My ex partner would not eat the white of a frid egg but had no qualms whatsoever in eating the white of a poached or boiled egg. Also, when making a cheese and tom sandwich, she would throw away the two ends of the tomato as they had 'skin on them':-/
I am a v fussy eater - the things I won't eat far outweigh what I will eat.
As a child I had to eat what was put in front of me. Thankfully, I have very few food dislikes.
Fussy eaters really annoy me!
I'm quite fussy but I do eat well. I happily eat fish, veg, salad and fruit. I'm just fussy with meat. Like Kens partner I don't eat the whites of eggs either, I don't eat pizza, sausages or bacon and very little chicken.
I was never made to eat what was put in front of me. If my mum was cooking something I was keen on I was allowed to opt out and make myself something.
Nope.
Very little people in this house turn their nose up at.

That of course is down to my wonderful cooking.
I have one niece that won't eat any vegetables at all
( apart from potatoes, and only then when they are converted into chips )

I have another niece who won't eat any fruit. When I point out the inherent irrationality of that, in that all fruit looks, and tastes differently, I am just met with a sulky smirk.

Both girls are in the 20's.

In my opinion, all this is the fault of the parents, who indulged their kids from a very early age. When I was growing up, we had to eat whatever was put in front us....silly fussiness just wasn't acceptable.
Prick & Ping, Talbot?
I'm with mikey - a little hunger is a great seasoning - it makes virtually anything palatable ... except kidneys ... they are just offal ...
Why is that these fussy eaters, mainly children, are never fussy about eating chips, and burgers ?
Making kids eat food can have a negative effect.
Agree totally with Mikey's post.
LOL at Dave's :-)
Mikey - our palates change as we get older.
My sons gf will eat the ends of chips but throws away the middle bit!
Ummm, the only negative effect it had on me is that I went hungry.
I was never 'made' to eat anything, ummmm - and wouldn't suggest that it's a good idea do that.

It's just that money was tight when I was growing up, and therefore food options were limited - if I didn't want to eat what my mum had cooked then it was probably just toast as an alternative - so I tended to just go with what was on offer and consequently have very few quibbles

... except kidneys, they really are (still) offal ...

Very true, after the second world war Bananas were extremely scarce. I was forced to eat one when I was seven, have never eaten one since.
Smowy....not in my house she wouldn't !

melv...the very idea of eating your dinner or going hungry seems to be completely absent these days.

The reality is that if you give a small child a variety of foods to try, they will grow up to eat most things.

At the age of 64, I am still not keen on sprouts or liver, but I struggle to think of anything else that I don't like.
Vulcan....zee War has been over for many years now....if you tried a banana again, you might like it !

No microwave meals in this house.

ummmm

Yes it can but so can letting them eat what they like.
Lazy parents who think the only way to cook veg is to boil the *** of it are at fault. Most kids don't like boiled cauli and boiled cabbage etc. Even as an adult there is nothing more off putting than a plate of mush covered in gravy.
