Was rather perturbed to see the following on the back of a packet of fresh Tagliatelli bought today from Lidl : 'May contain traces of molluscs'
I sincerely hope this was a translation error as it was made in Italy. Tasted fine and there were no bits of shell in it, as far as I could tell!

Why might it be a translation error?

What was the filing?

Or you can use flat parsley and garlic butter as an alternative ......
Or, more likely, is this the pasta you bought?

Could be something lost in translation?
Oh sorry, just re read and saw the tagliatelle.

Perhaps it was made in a facility where mollusc filled ravioli was also prepared?

LOL. No, it was just plain tagliatelli, no filling. The make was Nonna Mia. Take your point, eccles, of it being prepared in same environment as mollusc-filled ravioli. Am not vegetarian but wouldn't eat anything in a shell, not even seafood. But that's just me!

Hmmmm, interesting link, rocky. Would put me (and possibly others) buing that make though.
Nether would I eat anything in a shell. You have to take it out of the shell first. Winkles, Whelks, Crabs, Mussels, Prawns, love 'em. Not too keen on cockles though.

suspect it is translation, lumache and conighlie as well as scungilli all representing mollusc shaped shells in pasta.
It's a pasta specialty. They grow it underwater.
