I have a fork buffet lunch to cook in the coming weeks and I am conscious that I often push boundaries that the more conservative may find a little wild.

I am planning on cooking some dishes that are my natural style and some more classical dishes that will suit the traditionalists.

To maintain a bit of balance I would like to hear what you immediately reach for when confronted with a fork buffet or what you hope to find.

Over to you guys........

Cold poached salmon and cold cuts of meat would go on my plate first. Boring but......there you go.
samosa's & satay
meat - cured or roasted, maybe something like pulled pork, salt beef
salads but interesting ones, hot as well as cold
nice breads, flat breads or flavoured breads like olive

If it's a hot buffet then I like a nice curry / goulash type thing with rice.
cheese def cheese

and cake
I would also hope to find a hand crafted pork pie and lovely warm sausage rolls.

(Sorry I'm not being very inspirational, eccles)
Definitely pudding, anything mini like pavlovas, black forest cakes etc.
whatever you serve up would be lush!

It will be a cold buffet as it is being served in the Summer.....here's hoping the weather Gods pay attention ;-)

Pud is sorted and there will be cheese.

What's on the menu so far Eccles?

Fluff you and me would be fighting at the buffet table without a doubt.....sharpen your elbows girl! :-)

I think I might end up going with the classic roast meat, poached fish, prawn etc with accompanying sauces and jazz things up with some more challenging salads. I refuse to serve coleslaw or pasta/rice salad.

I frigging well hate cooking for boring farts :-(
no i like good food eccles x
i have had elbow attachments made esp for when i go buffet surfing.....
lol@ fluff "the queen of sausage rolls" x
Spicy Fried rice with prawns & noodles with pork; each wrapped in savory pancake & cut to bite size served cold with h&c chilly and mint yoggy dip.

Mazie...I'm dithering....so far I've counted in the following but it needs some tweaking....

Treacle cured fillet of beef with horseradish sauce
Honey, lemon and garlic roast chicken breasts
Poached salmon with herb mayo
Leek tart topped with pear and blue cheese

Griddled courgette, sun dried tom, French bean salad with tahini dressing
Beetroot, dill and goats cheese with a pomegranate molasses dressing
Fennel, runner bean, walnut and apple salad
Aubergine with chilli, lemon & honey
Warm new potatoes with a piquant herby dressing

I don't think I'm being too radical but I am concerned that it may be a bit too much for the pasta salad brigade :-(

sounds like my kind of heaven but there does need to be meat wrapped in pastry somewhere....
eccles serve it up watch it all go!
ps: save me a plate please
