My dad says if you have some mince left over slice the tinned pots up cover the mince in them add some grated cheese and pop in the oven good leftover meal
That's a good idea Ann. Go for it.
Yes I have done that fgt, adding knobs of butter to the potatoes on top makes them crunchy!

ooh Helen, thanks to Dad xx
I'd have to kill the mince with tom puree before some of my darlings wwould touch it, but that sounds lovely.
Another one on my list :-)
19p!!!

<bugger, they shut in ten minutes>
When I was a teenager, I used tinned potatoes, often in tins of tomato soup but I haven't thought of them in years. I didn't know they still existed
Lol humber

Sloopy, they shut at 6pm here :-)
<ducks>
I know I said it earlier but tinned tatties in curry is yum yum yummy
Are they on offer?

As an aside, it was mr sloop who introduced me to the well rinsed and drained tinned spud.

At the time, I was a bit sceptical of culinary advice from a man who, when previously asked to pick up some bay leaves on his way over, had paused for some time and then asked, do they come in tins? You never know really.

haven't made a curry in years :-(
Neither have I made Chilli either, Mr Alba's guts are temperamental, I suppose they're just catching up with the rest of him :-D

Sloopy, they are sent to try us :-)
Wonder if you can blitz them in a blender to make Leek and potato soup?
fan though I am, I think you need fresh spuds for that.

I was hoping to let you know on Tuesday morning, but better late than never..

I sliced and fried 'em with some finely sliced onion, very tasty. Something a bit different, but my frying pan looked a bit sad afterwards.

If I deep fry, I'll let you know the results. Thank you all very much for the ideas, recipes, suggestions and what to avoid :-D xx

mashed into a tin of beans when playing COD Triggs? xx
Alba, I agree they are a great cupboard standby - my one word of caution would be if you are deep frying them, expect spit back and if in a deep fryer, lots of explosive noise. They are so full of water...I speak from experience. One thing you can do is drain them and leave over night wrapped in a clean tea towel, that may help.

Thanks Mamya (love your av btw x)

To be honest, I'm not in too much of a rush to try them deep-fried. My lot can be fussy, although it's not allowed, but they cleaned their plates on Monday night :-)
