I don't cook but is this a well known technique for separating yolks? It looks self-explanatory so knowledge of Chinese isn't necessary.

Buy an egg yolk divider - look out for them anywhere. Pound shops etc
Thanks for that, bibblebub, it looks so simple, must try it
crack it and strain it through your fingers!
Did you watch the video, Con?

I was quite impressed.
I know Connemmara but this looks so much fun. I'm going to try this tomorrow.
Agreed Mazie, we all know how to, but this is a bit of fun
no, Ummmm didn't watch the video - just use my little divider. haha
Umm have watched it now. Looks good but knowing me I would probably suck the whole lot up. hhahahhahahah
Wow.....I'm so impressed I'm going to make the mother in law a meringue
lol
Also when I make a pavlova at Christmas when I use about 9 eggs (massive) I would probably be out of puff at the 5th egg
thats brilliant, gonna do that next time.
Must try that, I'm always making meringue.
make sure your eggs are very fresh. Once the yolk becomes a bit fragile, it wont work.
I love those sort of tips.
A good one is to put a plastic bottle of water in an open fire. As long as there is no air in the bottle it will heat it up without burning plastic!
I have never seen it done that way before. I must try it sometime.
I knew there must be some sort of practical use for my empty Coke bottles! Maybe I could market them as egg separators!
Looks like an awful waste of time to me since the technique involved, of course, breaking the egg in two halves; simply "pour" the egg back and forth between the two shell halves over the kitchen sink, or a bowl if you want to retain the whites, until you have only the yolk left in one of the shell halves... takes all of 10 seconds...
I do what clanad just, just to and fro it until you are left with the yolk
I do that as well.
