Just read that people are suggesting Gary Barlow deserves a knighthood for organising the Jubilee pop concert ..............what a load of tosh and totally the wrong concept of what being knighted stands for! What do you think?

I couldn't agree more!
I agree Ann but they're given out like confetti these days and have lost their meaning IMO.
The only sword he need is to chop the annoying little a/holes head off ?

Queen - TAKE THAT Gary !
Didn't see the concert but from what I've read, it was dire.

If that's true, being locked up in the Tower would be a better honour.
has he been given an honor before? it was my understanding that you worked your way up like ,mbe then obe then cbe and so on
As soon as "common people" were knighted, they lost their uniqueness BUT after saying that, i i were offered a knighthood, i would take it.
Dubbing seems an appropriate word in this case

LOL I think so too - do you think the suggestion has been made in sarcasm? It was dire - the best performer was the wonderful Alfie Boe ;0)

Arise Sir Sqad has quite a ring to it ;)
He should be congratulated for having his agent phone around to get things sorted. but knighted ....Gary Barloooooow. do me a lemon.
ann....LOL....yes.....I rather fancy that..........
Knighthood, no - one of the orders, yes, e.g. MBE.
It would be an OBE as there were a lot of others involved - bet Gary Malone gets one too, maybe a CBE for both of them given the latter's involvement with schools and other choirs and Gary re his other music and charity work

Being a killjoy, I thought that all the gongs after the last Olympics were OTT and so[i Labour.......On McCoy, Addlington and all the rest, they should have waited until their careers were over (like Redgrave). Perhaps the max should have been an MBE for Gold medallists but they [i] already] had a gong in their hand, the one that really mattered to them.

I bet it happens again......unfortunately.

As to Seb Coe, Order of Merit or the Garter when a space becomes available....replacement for Thatch on the latter?
not awake as to italics.....
Lord Rae has a certain "Je ne sais quoi" to it.......the emphasis being the "quoi"
I bought the scottish one and can now be known as Lady Tambo.....doff you hats, peasants - lol
The order of the realm will be handing them out like stickers before long, so the significance will mean nothing.

Ark bows head at Tambo
It's OK with me. The more debased these things become the sooner we can get rid of them all.
The honours system means nothing to me - he's as worthy as most others.
that's the press for you.
