I have just spent a good half hour walking around my little town looking for a young man.
I was in a charity shop and only half aware of the conversation between a lad, about twentyish ,and the staff. He didn`t appear too well off. A shy, innocent sort of chap but what got my attention.....he was so nice and polite.
Too late I realised he was interested in a little record player but the staff told him it only played 45s. He left, apologising for having them get it out of the window. I looked at the player and of course it took LPs. Nipped out but no sign of the lovely young man.
Now, if I get the car out, buy the player and drive slowly around the town would it look like kerb crawling? If the police stop me will they believe I am looking for a young man who doesn`t know me so I can jump out of the car and present him with a record player from a charity shop?
But I do so want him to have the record player.
Or am I just soft?

I think that's lovely.
A bit soft. Faith in humanity restored though.

Just a bit soft then Ed. Thank you. Sod it. I`ll buy it.
Whereabouts are you - if you're in Lincolnshire you could get a message posted on the local radio, just a thought. Might be the same in other counties.
It's lovely...I hope you find him, you might consider leaving a message at. The shop in case he goes back there?
Unlikely you would find him... nice idea though....
Question Author
Off to buy and try. Back soon.
Yes, it is soft, but there's nothing wrong with that. I'd probably feel the same way.
do you get the Metro newspaper free on your local buses? he sounds like he may frequent public transposrt so you could put a message in that for him.
Oh gness how I wish that I was a young man in your town

Ron ♥♥
gness what a simply wonderful thing to do . It is such a shame there are not more of you xxx
he will probably think poor gness is stalking him...
It was me gness, waiting for youuuuuuuuuuu xx

No that would be a nice gesture - could always try and get the staff to put a notice in their window as well....

Well,I now own a Bush Turntable! Explained the situation to the staff and left my phone number but false name. Asked if they would also look out for him. They backed away from the desk and kept slowly saying..Okaaay....okaaay. I have now become the small town eccentric which was bound to happen. Just thought I`d be a bit older when it did.
Blown it with the builder I think. Can hear mutterings along the lines of...Box of frogs...box of frogs.
Thank you for your finding him suggestions. Will do the radio bit this afternoon if I can. Last time I went on radio in Calgary to sell baby and toddler bits before return to UK the presenter, at the end of my list, asked if that was everything. I said yes it was because we had decided to keep the baby. Oh! the complaints. Will reign in my humour this time.x

Ron. Thought of moving? It`s nice here.
Where ? ( rough idea)
You sold your baby on the radio in Calgary of all places, gness?

I don't believe it........
